Αbsence

The objective of this work was to capture the form of a thing after it has been used. The thing in question was bed linen which was treated like a prepared canvas for painting.
During the process of working this series of “paintings” I became aware of their sculptural qualities which led me to conceive these canvases as a “tabula rasa“ on which some human interaction has been imposed and left its mark in a series of wrinkles. The Absence of the human agent that created this wrinkled surfaces is counterbalanced with the somewhat frozen and abstract presence of its depiction.
